Registrars enrolled in the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program are required to undertake training in areas considered to be areas of medical service need. To meet this requirement, you will need to meet both the GP Synergy and AGPT Training Location Obligations (TLOs) during your training.
GP Synergy TLOs
You are allocated to a subregion at the time of accepting a training offer with GP Synergy. Each GP Synergy subregion has different TLOs and you will need to meet the TLOs specified for your subregion and pathway.
Subregion TLOs are available in the TLO schedule in the GP Synergy Training Location Obligations Policy.
All AGPT registrars are required to comply with the AGPT Training Location Obligations Policy. These differ according to whether you are on the general or rural pathway.
Further details can be found in the AGPT Training Location Obligations Policy.
Applications for exemptions need to demonstrate unforeseen and exceptional circumstances not present at the time of enrolment in the AGPT training program. If seeking an exemption, you need to discuss your intentions with your ME.
If you wish to apply for an exemption to the GP Synergy TLOs then please refer to the GP Synergy Training Location Obligations Policy and the Exemption from Training Obligations Application Form.
